Need more than distant pictures.  Any markings?  Any indication of where it was manufactured? Import marks?

I have never laid my hands on it so I can't say. The owner however says there are no markings at all on it.

Probably a "Parlor gun", manufactured in Europe, and perhaps "repatriated" at the end of WWII.
Don't you just love it when someone who doesn't have a clue to the truth, makes up such a scenario ?
On the other hand, I'm just noticing the scaled down Trapdoor Springfield type action. Hmmm....

Handguns chambered in 22 short were popular during the civil war for personal weapons on both sides. It may well be a gun that was produced by a small time weapons maker or blacksmith for that exact reason.

Looking at the pictures---and it may just be the pictures---the working on the stock/handle do not seem to make it an "old" piece.
Hummm--having said that I don't know why I think that.
