remington bronze point bullets, any opinions?

  Hello to everyone,

   I just walked into a deal on some new in the box, but older (early '90s production) .30 cal Remington bronze point bullets.
  I  bought 300 for $20. Now I wonder why I bought what would be considered a "premium" bullet so cheap, does anyone have any experience with these that they would like to share?

   I had plans to load them in .30/06 and .30/40 krag.

A good price!  Try looking on Midway's site for the BP bullets and their buyers' reviews.

I use them for white tail deer in my 308 with great success. I bought 1000 of them from Midway some time ago. I like the protection the bronze point provides for the bullet tip. I shoot these rounds in my M1A and have great accuracy results. The M1A mashes other bullet tips but not the Bronze point. The terminal performance of these150 grain bullets is impressive.

I found them to be explosive but effective.  The problem with the .270 was the small entrance hole.  A shot behind the shoulder deer would travel a hundred yards leaving a dime size drop of blood.    Early on I was impressed enough with the bullet that I would travel 50 miles to buy a box for reloading.  I still have a few rolling around that I will load for sight-in ammunition.  But will not use it for hunting.

The 30 cal. Bronze Pt's were also load in the .300 Savage.  They proved to be effective.  I had a box of 180 grain bronze points given to me.  I passed them on to a friend.

I also found them to be inconsistent in weight.  The variance would be up to two grains.

The first deer I shot with a Bronze point died as a result of a destroyed liver, heart, and lungs.  The shot was delivered at close range.  For all the organ damage I cannot recall damage to the rib cage on the far side.

I use The Bronze Point almost exclusively for my Mule deer hunting. Shoot them out of my M77's in both 30-06 and 308. They are the fore-runner of all the plastic tipped bullets that are on the market now. They have always give me exactly what I've wanted from a good deer bullet. Accurate and very Deadly.
They are getting pricey and a little hard to find though.  But I think I have a lifetime supply on the shelf now.
