11-48 in 28 ga. functioning problem..
« on: October 17, 2007, 05:27:09 PM »
I've an 11-48 in 28ga that has a bit of a problem, it pops the links from the follower usually on the first shot. Gun is thru then. Quite a bit of wear and the friction piece is a bit thin(suspect?) but all else seems normal.. Recoil spring is nice and straight and seems OK. Gun is dirty! but no worse than others I've seen that were still working.. I'll complete the tear down tomorrow, any guesses? I've never seen one do this.. By the way the gun functions fine manually and the action spring seems quite strong enough. Any one have an idea or prior knowledge as to what's wrong. I have a guess but really don't KNOW... The weapon is field stripped now but will get completely stripped tomorrow.
