1917 Enfield stock replacement
« on: October 15, 2007, 04:41:26 PM »
I am looking for a source for an inexpensive replacement stock for a 1917 Enfield. This rifle belongs to my brother and the modified military stock is split lengthwise below the comb. This gun is a great shooter and deserves a new stock. The split stock is some what held together with duct tape!!! He thinks this is cool, I do not. So I have been looking around with out much luck. Any ideas? A sporter or military type will do.

Cheese - nice looking Harley ya got there.  For a replacement military stock I would look at SAMCO, SARCO, or Gun Parts corporation as they have the largest mil-surp inventories, but also look to our sponsor list - I know that at least one of our sponsors makes gunstocks and may produce sporter replacements for the 1917/M17 and another of our sponsors is a large supplier/distributor or gun parts and sporting equipment and they may have something you can use.  HTH.  Mikey.

Bell & Carlson make the carbelite for the p17.  I have one and have been impressed with it.

This gun was designed by the British and many were made as P 14's in .303 British. Point: the stock should interchange and from a less popular, for your use, fitted to your gun work fine. I got a Winchester dewat P14 for $25.00 long ago (plus shipping)... Dewat was a bolt thru the chamber. 1914 action for $25.00 and the stock free. That deal is gone, but don't forget the 14. luck.

I'm pretty sure Boyd's gunstocks make replacement stocks for the P17.
I really like their laminate stocks on my mausers.
