Yesterday afternoon, I went to check my feeders and see if anything had hit peas when I had a flat tire. I had to call my son to bring a jack to lift my Bronco. I sat down on his tractor we had in the field to see if anything would move when it was quiet. I then saw a 4 point emerge and lope off accross a field then turn north. I was amazed at that. I watched him through my binoculars. He was cast with a grey fur rather than an all borwn. After that , a yote emerged and looked at me. Alas my rifle was in my truck. I watched as he followed the path of the deer. I was taken by surprise by it all. Now, I wish I had taken off on an interecepting path because he was truly following the buck.
I was thinking of trying to hunt some yotes after talking with the man who lets me on the land. It seems there are more there.
I got out Cabelas to look for a decoy and call system that would not break the bank. I have heard a caller in North Florida where I hunted last year. I never though about hunting coyotes until I saw that one chasing good sized buck for Florida. I am south of Tampa. My son has shot three in one setting on a ranch not far from him. I now have a cause.
Am open to calls and decoy suggestions.
