It's 209X50. 50 cal; I expect the bore land-to-land will be somewhere between 500 and 510. Don't know what TC uses as nominal bore size for the Encore/prohunter ML 50 cal barrel. I don't have a means of measuring either, at this time.
I don't own an Encore ML barrel yet. I'm planning to buy the barrel when sales come on after deer hunting, so I don't have a barrel to measure. I'm doing research into what's possible. I was hoping to gain some insight from others on this forum with what they are using, to research sources of bullets, sizing dies, etc.
I was planning to slug it by pushing one of my .526 dia soft lead round balls through the bore. Is there a better way?
I will use black powder or a substitute like pyrodex, loose powder load.
I'm hunting this year with a round ball shooter that has been good to me; it's a 125 yard gun. I do a lot of reloading, casting, cast bullet shooting, etc. When I get into something like I like to talk about it with others that have done it before. I have Paul Matthews book The Paper Jacket on the desk as I write this, and have read it cover to cover.
Is anyone loading Encore 209X50 with paper patch? What bullet are you using, what bore size did you find is in the Encore .50, what do you size to and how do you like it?
Thanks, sincerely
