Squirrel Season opens tommrow

Son worked hard all summer (10yrs. old) got his licenese. I bought Him a NEF youth 20ga. He loves it can`t wait tell morning hope it stops raining. His school even gave Him the day off, Grandpa, Me (Dad), and son is going. The boy has talked about it all day hope things work out. Will share Pics if We get to go ...........John

Good luck to you guys. My 11 yr. old also got his license this summer and is rarin' to go. Here in OH you can now buy an "apprentice license" w/out taking the safe hunter course. You hunt w/ a licensed adult. So he was able to get a couple of squirrels last year. Now he's hooked. He uses his grandpa's old Savage single shot .410.  Keep us posted!

Well no luck yet, seen 7. My Son missed the frist 1 and was more carefull with the rest, He never had a good shot on any of the others ,He`s not used to moving tragets. We will go back out this weekend, He had a good time though.  ;D

Well My son (Jesse) made it happen this morning 2 shots 2 Fox squirrels. Never posted a pic so I just changed My profile pic for now. He`s very happy and ready to go back ............

Well went back out this morning ,to warm nothing really was moving. But the bad thing My Dad (69) got lost!!!!! He had Me drop Him off out on the main road He wanted to walk in like He used to 15-20yrs. ago ,I did not like it very much because it is about 3+miles across to were we park . 1hr late alittle worried blowed horn, 2hrs late very worried something wrong blowed horn every 10 min. . Finnally I herd His 410 go off 3 times I blowed horn He shot again, long story short He is going in morning to get a cell phone. He had to walk back to main road down the road to the 2 track and in that way to were I was. I set the trip gauge from were I was parked to were I droped him it was 2miles 9 tens + all the time lost in woods I don`t even now how far He walked.

Congrats to your son! That will likely keep him hooked and wanting to go back this Saturday ;)
Sorry to hear about your dad. Had a similar experience a few years back w/ my dad. He was about 78 at the time and went after squirrel w/ me. Except he went off in a direction I didn't expect. After a while I decided to look for him, but couldn't find him. Began to worry he had another heart attack and would find him on the ground somewhere. But a little later he motioned to me from under a big oak tree where he'd spotted a big fox squirrel, which he later bagged. He's too frail to hunt now, but he still likes to tell stories and passed his old .410 down to my son, who now hunts bushytails w/ me.
