« on: November 12, 2007, 07:09:29 PM »
Can't find any ammo deals anywhere for surplus Mosin ammo.  Did it all dry up suddenly? Anyone know where to find some that is still reasonable post up please!

Cheap or reasonable and milsurp ammunition just don't seem to go together here lately.

RR:  right now J&G sales has Bulgarian 148 gn and heavy ball, plus Russian Brown Bear in ball or soft point, as well as their Silver Bear in 203 gn soft point.  Also carries Sellier and Bellot 180 gn.  Mikey.

J&G and maybe Sarco.

Most has slowed down and the prices have jumped.  I've actually been selling some off since the price is right now.

With the UN giving countries "incentives" to destroy surplus weapons and ammunition,
instead of "Exporting Death" , ammo sources will never be the same again.

I am aware of the ammo going to Iraq...wasn't sure if this stuff was going there or not.

Side note: FUNNY....an army intel friend saw a gun in person that was taken from an insurgent----this gun astounded many people and its been posted about all over the place, pictures are out there....apparently, one of our guys  recovered a NICE MP-44 that was being actively used by the bad guys. Now WHERE was he getting ammo for it?!  And who will get that gun when we leave there.... hmmm

We have a gunshow here this weekend, and we are going to bag any 7.62X54 ammo we find if its close to the big ammo suppliers mentioned.  Anyone sees 8mm mauser post up as well.

Good luck fellas,

RR

CBS interviewed the taliban in afganistan and they were holding a mosin rifle and a 303 britt rifle.  They talked about how they took the russian army apart from up on the high ridges and cliffs with these old long barreled guns. This was right before the afgan war.
