Lubing bullets and filling the casting pot
« on: September 06, 2003, 04:59:17 AM »
When I used to cast I would always refill the pot and have it ready to go for the next time.  Didn't want to wait while the WW melted down and all--but this added time to the casting session and nothing was happening here at the end.

What is working for me now is cast the bullets till the pot is empty or I'm tired (20lb pot--casting 250 gr 45LC bullets takes about 45 minutes till the pot is empty--I can't add lead fast enough to keep up with the casting as the pot can't keep up temp-wise).  Call it a day.

Then when I come back to size/lube the bullets I also melt the WW down for the next casting session.  This way I'm doing something productive when waiting for the lead to melt in the pot.

This probably won't work for those of you who tumble-lube your bullets but so far it seems to work very well for me
