Uberti has brought it's quality up a lot since being bought by Beretta.  They are a good Colt SAA clone.  I'd recommend the .45.  You can use good loads that run 900 fps with a cast bullet and that will down anything cleanly that we are allowed to hunt east of the Mississippi.  The ultimate is a Colt or USFA, but for a good, functional gun for the price, the Uberti will do nicely.  Enjoy that gun.  44 Man

The pistol would also be a backup for deer hunting with muzzleloader  and just for fun and also how much does 45 colt ammo run i haven't looked but am considering getting into reloading as well so it would not be as big a consideration  but just curious. i guess i can check around here. thanks

Winchester Cowboy loads list for $28 for a box of 50, but you may still find em around $24.   Black Hills ammo $30, and up to the Remington $33.    There are cheaper Brands out there.   I like the .45's, they're fun to shoot.   ;D

They're great for a knock-around gun.  Here's mine that I fitted a lanyard ring to as well as an additional .45acp cylinder I got thru Numrich.

I do like those satin finished guns for a woods gun.  Another thought is to take a little steel wool to that finish and you easily have a finish that looks like the 'aged' guns, something that looks very old.  I like that too.  It gives the gun lots of 'character'.  44 Man

And 50 reloads after you have your cases run around $4-$5 bucks
If you are going to shoot you have to reload unless you own a ammo factory!

go for it i'm sure you'll enjoy it. you'll have even more fun with it once you get into reloading.check ebay you can still pick up some reloading gear, and do not look past garage and estate sales never can tell what'll turn up.
ieven more convenient check the classified here you may turn up some components and tools. enjoy that 45,

I have one in 357 Mag. I love it-can't hit anything with it but that is not the guns fault. I shoot mostly cowboy loads in it which really  makes it a joy to shoot.
