I currently own a Marlin .35 remington, a savage .270, a Remington .243, a Browning .308, a Mosin Nagant 762 x 54R, and have owned in the past many other calibers for large game. My all time favorite is my trusted .35, this gun has brought home many many deer and hogs. I do have a scope on it, and the longest shot i have made with it was a 300 yarder with a 180 grain soft point. Dropped the deer on the spot. The best shot i made with it was on a 4 point at 100 yards in a pine sapling thicket. It was a broad side shot, the deer ran about 20 yards and fell over. When i went to inspect the deer i found another 3 point about 30 yards further away from the first deer. The bullet went through the first deer side to side behind the shoulder obliterating his lungs, and went on to pass through the second deer from a point 2 inches to the right of his sphincter to the center of his chest and out, end to end.
Surprisingly my second choice would be the Mosin Nagant
