cheap ammo
« on: June 16, 2009, 10:31:01 AM »
Im looking to get a cheap varmint set up - most likely a NEF Handi single shot.  I don't reload and all of my shots will be under 200 yards on ground hogs rabbits or fox - not worried about the pelts.   What is the cheapest round to use in the 218, 219, 220, 221, 222, 223, 22-250, 204, 22hornet area?

Cheap ammo is an oxymoron these days. From strictly a cost perspective the .223 wins hands down. From relatively cheap FMJs to premium loads, they are all there.

while not small bore, the 54R seems to be about the cheapest stuff out there right now
Though taken from established manufacturers' sources and presumed to be safe please do not use any load that I have posted. Please reference Hogdon, Lyman, Speer and others as a source of data for your own use.

There is alot more .223 ammo available than any other round and it is usually cheaper.

I would have two say the .223 due to $ and avalibility
There can be no divided Allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isnt an American at all.We have room here for but one flag, the American Flag.... We have room for but one Language here, and that is the English Language.....And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.

Currently, there is no "CHEAP" ammo: only slightly less "EXPENSIVE".
GOOD LUCK and GOOD SHOOTING!!!
