I can't beleive I'm considering a model <<censored>>
« on: September 15, 2007, 11:24:32 AM »
just kidding about the censored part....

I've always maintained that a remington 710 was too rough and that for the same or similar money better guns could be had.

Found a used .270 at a pawn shop.   Shopkeeper wants $229 for it.  Since the latch release for the mag is broken, I'm thinking I can offer him $150 and maybe he'll take it...

I know it's a gamble, but to get a bolt gun for the price of a Rossi.... I might just try it.  Besides... I dont think my shoulder can handle a Rossi, as much as I like to shoot.  My wifes Rossi in .308 is a beast.   Even with a recoil pad.  She doesnt shoot it often, though so she's ok with it.

from what i hear, they're accurate enough (1.5" +/- @ 100yds) for a really cheap gun......  only concern is the mag... superglue comes to mind... ;)

Don't flog me too hard... ;)

I can't believe it either...don't do it man, don't do it! :P

There are too many BETTER choices available....

Stevens 200, Remington 700 ADL/SPS, Mossberg ATRs, just to name a few.

A 710 at any price is not a bargain as far as I'm concered.

I like remington 700 but the 710 looks and feels so cheap to me,get a used ADL or savage or maybe a rock but not a 710.
I enjoy collecting guns, swaping and staying up on all the newest models. I deer, quail, squirrel and rabbit hunt.

I actually don't think the 710 is really all that bad.  Between chambering and extraction it does exactly what it's supposed to do.  Of course I want more in a bolt rifle, but the 710 really is an excellent beater if you have beating in mind for it.  It takes it extremely well and doesn't show it.

Bash the 710's all you want guy's and drive the prices down. Got a 710 in 243 and a 700 in 270 The 710 shoots 3 times better than the 270. I get 1/2 inch groups at 100 yds with it. The best I could get out of the 270 is 1 1/4 groups. That is factory ammo on the243 and hand loads on the 270. 270 factory is almost 2 inches. Remington is upgrading the stock free of charge. Like I said keep on bashing them and drive those prices down and I will get me some good shootin guns. L.O.L.

Well I am really glad to hear that they did make at least one 710 that would shoot properly. I also hope that it continues to function correctly and doesn't start breaking parts as that is a common problem from what I hear and see reported on several forums.

I agree with jjmna. My brother has 2 710's and i dont think there that bad. They shoot good and have never failed. But we all have our opinions.

They're made out of plastic.

They are cheap.

They shoot straight.

The scope on top works.

If you are looking to spend little money, the 710 works.

I don't care how many people have "handled" one.  Thousands of rounds has proven it a good gun to me.

Excellent point.   Is there anyone that has actually purchased one, that has had a bad experience with it?

I didn't purchase one, but I didn't purchase a Yugo either.
