Good book on guns and reloading

Layne Simpson's Shooters Handbook is a new book and is very good. It's basically questions and answers that are worth reading.

My Jim Carmichael book to wit "all about the rifle" is getting kind of old if you know what I mean.
Do You suppose that Walden Book will have a copy of the Layne Simpson book?

I like the Carmichael books too. He's a good writer. I got the Simpson book at my local gun shop. I don't know about Waldens, but amazon.com has it. I use them a lot and am happy with their service.

When reading any of these book don`t take them a gospel. I quit reading books to learn about guns and shooting years ago. I have read so many things written by gun writers that was 100% bull and dead wrong that I no longer pay any attention to what they think. I have found from reading that I have more personal experience than they do in the vast majority cases. If you are just getting started they can teach you something, and some make a real good read, but don`t count on the accuracy of what they say. If you really want to learn study loading manuals, and ballistics charts. They are not entertaining but they informative.

Catfish, you're absolutely right. The thing I like about this particular book is that it gives his opinions based on what appears to be understanding the subject and having experience with it. It's a lot like Elmer Keith's old Gun Notes column in.
