Dunno...JH..
I am not committed to any of them, I don't see any as "ideal", but then there is almost never an Ideal candidate in my mind.
....And if there were an ideal candidate in my mind, 95% of the other voters would probably find him/her in varying degrees,
somewhat less than ideal .
For me, R.Reagan came about as close as they get !
We cannot stand around holding our collective breath, waiting for the perfect candidate. "There ain't no such animal".
I have noticed that Huckabee has a very sharp wit and an apparent striving for decency and traditional American values; something
far too many of the Republican candidates and struggle with, and all the Democrat candidates forsake completely.
That recorded speech, fleshed out many of the questions I had about his positions on the military and the seriousness of the
global pervasiveness of the Islamofacist threat; something all the Democrats and at least one of the Republican candidates
completely fail to grasp !
Yes; we all WISH we weren't facing a worldwide, massive, united, guerrilla force bent on destroying US, followed by all civilized nations
..but it is true ! ...And all the WISHING in the world doesn't change the hard, cold facts !
Yes; Huckabee is slightly to the left of me on some issues (the rest are far to the left), but again..I am realist enough to know that the perfect
candidate probably doesn't exist.
It is becoming more obvious day by day that the final opposition for us is likely to be "the wicked witch of the west". Mike's quick wit
and cheerful demeanor would perhaps be the perfect foil in a debate to provoke her wrath and benefit greatly from her hateful temper.
I still have not made up my mind as to a favorite, but then in the final analysis it is unlikely that what any of us on GB's forum
have to say about the candidates, will have any bearing on the Republican's final choice .
BTW: I know this post looks like I have ruled out any Democrats as a sensible choice, but actually, they have ruled themselves out.
