Something new to test
« on: October 30, 2007, 05:41:57 AM »
I just got home from my Ohio bowhunt (deer 1, hunter zero :() , but the trip wasn't a total loss.  We met some friends that live in PA.  They came down to the Wheeling WVA cabellas store.  Daddy went shopping!

I picked up some of the new Barnes TSX 300gr 45-70 bullets (along with a whole bunch of archery stuff) and some 6mm Barnes Varmint Grenades (for another forum).  Gonna try them out in my Marlin 1895GS, was the only way I can hunt with it here in Kalifornia, with the new lead bullet ban going into effect.

Anyway, they are an odd looking bullet, VERY long hollow point front, and a BIG hole.  Will be interesting to see how they perform, both at the target and hopefully on game, maybe a pig hunt this year.
God, Family, and guns, in that order!
