What do you think of the Ruger Blackhawk Hunter in .41 Mag?
« on: September 15, 2007, 02:06:43 PM »
I'm thinking of buying a new Ruger Blackhawk Hunter in .41 Mag.  Does anyone know anything of the accuracy of these guns?  Have there been any issues with these?

Thanks,

Bary

That still amazes me…I don’t care who you are or how much I care about you, I would never let you kill my son.  I can’t even begin to understand how much He loves us.

I have shot a Blackhawk Hunter in 44 mag and it shot very well, I would think that one in a 41 mag would even be better. The 41 mag is one fine handgun round, I have a 4 5/8" Blackhawk in 41 mag and love it.

NO ammo for it----a few years back I was pretty hot to get a Blackhawk .41---start lookin around at my ammo options---no different loadings and scarce---even the place that had the gun didn't have ammo for it--and this is a BIG gun shop.

Get the .44 and don't look back.

Great gun, and the .41 mag is a great hunting round.  I was looking at one myself... once the money is enough... I might just have to find myself having one...  I liked the bisley grip hunter myself.

I LIKE IT! Go for it! I've been shooting the Bisley model for awhile now. I just bought a NIB of the same model but with the regular SA grip. There are alot of factory loads available these days. Most are for hunting, but Georgia Arms has some reasonably priced ammo. Fiochi is supposed to come out with a loading for about $25 a box of 50.

I really like mine with a Leupold 4x on it.  I took it out the other day and shot some 240gr Winchester Platinum tip factory ammo and it shot 1.25" at 50yds from a prone position.  I know I can do better than that.  I usually reload but I got the ammo with the gun.
Gratuitous pic....

PS: The only thing that I have had go wrong with the gun is that the breech face of the gun is a little rough and sometimes the primers rub on it, causing a bit of binding when you try to cock it for the next shot.  A little stoning of the breech face would take care of that problem.

Recalled this thread for a while ago...  I already have a .41 BH that's scoped.  Had it for years.  Also have a 45 Colt SBH Hunter which also sees little use.  I am however now considering adding a .41 Hunter just for something to have.  Prefer the bisley model but may go with the standard gripframe too (matchs the 45 Hunter)  Got two weeks unused vacation time pay coming to me so maybe...
