.223 or .224 Bullets for .22 Hornet
« on: November 04, 2007, 02:26:24 AM »
I will soon order a Handi in .22 Hornet.

I want to get set up to reload this cartridge.  I have heard Hodgdon Lil'Gun Powder and Remington cases are the way to go.

Bullets are available in .223 and .224.  I have heard that some older Hornets (not necessarily Handis) favor .223 bullets.  Which would work best in a current production Handi?

I just got my Handi Hornet and it shoots the .224's fine. I think you're right, the old Hornets used the 223. There was a thread on the subject sometime back. I think all the 22 caliber center-fire Handi barrels are the same internal dimensions for bore and lands.
