Mowing with an ATV
« on: November 30, 2007, 05:10:20 PM »
Forgive me if this topic has been on here before, but does anyone have any experience doing brush hogging with a rough cut mower behind an ATV? I am thinking about getting a rough cut mower, but I am wondering how much heavy duty mowing this kind of set up can really handle. I have a Polaris Sportsman 400. Thanks.

sorry, no experience here, the price of most of the mowers I've looked at have kept me from doing it.  Which models are you considering?

The ones I have used were under powered for knee high grass

markc,

I was looking at the swisher and maybe the DR, but I haven't looked too seriously yet, because I wanted to get some feedback on whether I should even consider doing it.

I have the swisher 44" cut finish mower but its under powered if the grass gets big. My neighbor has the brush cut model swisher but he only uses it on small briers and brush without heavy grass andsaid it works ok. I do know one thing, if your quad has a low range or a real low first gear it realy helps.
