Two questions
« on: June 18, 2003, 01:12:56 PM »
First can an Encore chambered in the .45/410 shoot the .454 mag? Second can a .308 Encore shoot the 7.62 nato round?   I have a chance to buy an Encore at a good price but can only afford one barrel.     Thanks in advance...lost

I would have to say yes to both questions...though some will tell you the chamber is too long on the .45/.410 to get good accuracy,my experience with a contender chambered in the same combo shows that it can be quite accurate anyway.
On the .308 my advice would be to stay away from the Wolf Brand ammo in any single shot,'cause the lacquer the factory seals the ammo with will melt, then cool and cause all kinds of extraction problems!

Can't speak about Wolf ammo, but my 15" 308 loves the MilSurp ammo. Most shoot into 1 1/2" all day long, some better than that, but with a 2x scope, it's good enough for me for balster ammo.
The first shot is the best shot, it may be your only shot!  Do it with a single-shot.

What is a 454 Mag? Are you refering to the 454 Cassull (spelling?)? If so I would think it would shoot it OK as long as it chambers. It's basically a lengthened 45 colt.  KN
