7mm 08 Handi load question
« on: November 11, 2007, 10:30:01 AM »
Bought some "on sale" bullets, 139 grain flat nose.  They are much shorter than the 154 hornady's so the OAL is not working out right.  Can I  seat the bullet to the crimp line and be safe?  With it barely in the case it is already below the OAL of 2.80.

Thanks for any help or advice,

Your COL will change depending on what bullet you use , a good rule of thumb is to seat the bullet to the same depth as the bullet Dia. so your going to want the bullet around .280 into the case neck .

Hope this helps .

Thanks Stimpy,

I think I knew that.............must have forgot, I'm over 50 ;D

It does help, these bullets are real short, they should be good for short range deer hunting here.

Thanks much,
