compact models

ok i have a question about the felt recoil on the compact and carry models of the 45 acp pistols. I was looking at a EAA witness compact 45 acp i didn't hold it but have also thought about the kimber ultra carry both are smaller lightweight pistol of course. I would like to know how bad the recoil would be with these and how is the accuracy with the EAA witness i know the kimber is a better pistol but was curious about the other.  thanks in advance.

Felt recoil with any .45acp pistol I have fired is negligible. That includes the Ultra Carry. Recoil with the heavier Witness should be even less.

I find that the recoil on my Colt Defender is less than on my Gov't model.  This is not because of less velocity with the shorter barrel, but because it has less slide wt recoiling rearward because of the shorter slide.  I also find much of the jumping around while firing a 1911 is as much the slide slaming back forward as the actual recoil.  This is made worse when some people put heavier recoil springs into their guns.  The 1911 in .45 acp is a pretty comfortable gun to shoot.  44 Man

i have a colt gov model 70 and the recoil is defintely manageable but i thought that was because weight but never thought about the slide causing the felt recoil from slamming forward. thanks all i appreciate the help.

I carry a Kimber RCP and find it very enjoyable to shoot.

if i could i would have the kinber ultra carry have had one in hand and like it alot but is a bit pricey so i may be looking at some compact models

had a cdp ultra that i foolishly traded off. It was a joy to shoot and would shoot just as accurately as my gold cup. As a matter of fact just for fun i shot it in a ppc match once and shot a 290x300 15x that was a little off my pace but took second that day anyway.

I have heard of a company that produced a prototype 1911 with a titanium frame and slide.  The tester remarked that because of it's very light weight slide, that he experienced much less recoil than a standard 1911.  We'll have to check that out if it ever becomes available.  44 Man

i would check that new gun out with the titanium slide would be cool.

I came across the EAA one day at a gun shop and then was in a shop a few wks back and they had a star not sure of the model but was compact type and felt alot like my gov't model but smaller very comfortable.
