need help fast wife in leaveing on hunting trip friday night

I just got my leupold scope back went to put it on wifes .243 and first two shot touching dialed to center and first shot .25 off center right then next shot center but high 2'' then next shot center but 2.25'' right. cleaned rifle checked for tightness of scope all ok. went back shot again same thing first 2'' right center and second shot 2'' high and center. barell is floating but think sling bolt might have been touching. Would that cause the irratic shots. please reply need to fix tomorrow. I fixed the sling bolt. the only difference since the last time it was shot is the new scope and I tightened the sling bolt. the wife said sorry she is not good enough for an encore it is a remington model 660. wrong place to post but I did anyway just figured out I messed up.

i am going to sound stupid saying this but get a new forarm that isn't floated thats not always best. try it if you can. then a cheaper thing to try if your using a rest put it close to the reciver its very sensitive around the barrel. try rubber washers too. also make sure your using good rest and not flinching try diffrent ammo. could be your scope.. can't help you there

By my calculations, this is a 3" group which would be 6" at 200 yards wind-wise and more elevation wise accounting for bullet drop. Not the best but doable if time is of the essence and keeping that behavior in mind when shooting. If it were me, I would clean the barrel thoroughly, adjust the scope 1" to the left leaving the elevation as is, snug the forend screws equally, position the barrel on the rest as close to the receiver as possible and shot a series of 3-shots each. I have some barrels that need fouling shots varying from 1 or 2 up to 8 or 9 shots. Let you wife do the shooting and see what happens after 9 or 12 shots. (In my opinion, women are better shooters!)
