encore scopes
« on: November 15, 2007, 07:54:47 PM »
I just finished installing a Leupold 4x scope on a 358Win.  and a TC 3x on a 358Winch. pistol barrel... put some leupold steel rings and mounts on 308 pistol barrel too, but decided to wait for either the 1-5 tasco or the 2-7 burris to come in next week sometime...
hope it is worth the wait... I am planning on sighting them all in next week or next weekend between deer hunting and work duties...
I am almost regretting the decision to wait for the adjustable power scope for the 08 but that is just cause I want to shoot it.. put a 4x leupold on my contender 35 Rem. barrel too... the 2x seemed oddly more difficult to use than the 4x so I removed the 2x.
What do you guys think... should I have just stuck the 4x on the 308 ? or you think it is a good thing to have a little more power available for longer range off a rest deer shots over 150 ??  I am planning on up to 150 with the 460 ... same with the 358 and the 35 rem ... and up to 200 with the 308... I am assuming from the figures I saw the 308 is the best suited to 200 yard range.
opinions ??

For a 100 to 200 yard handgun, I prefer variable scopes in the power range of somewhere between 2X & 9X.

I Like the T/C 2.5-7 scopes with the lighted cross hairs.
