i am tired of losing squirrels that get shot and hide themselves among underbrush and leaves,it wouldn't be too complicated to train a cur to trail squirrels would it

I have hunted with some outstanding Mt. Curs that would fit the bill for what you are looking for.  However, I prefer Treeing Feist.  Depending on exactly what you are looking for I may be able to point you in the right direction.  These dogs will tree the squirrel for you and if you train them correctly fetch the squirrel back to you.  If you don't already know about it you might want to take a peak at Sqdog.com.
