Just bought this from Cabelas.  Gonna put a leupold 2X7 on it.   Hopefully shoot it this week.  This is a sweet gun

NICE!!!!!! I have always liked the way T/C made the X7 looked. The Lam looks the best with the bluing. Range Report is a given now. :D

Ive got some hornady sst & some jim shockeys gold. Where should I start? Im thinking 100 grains. What kinda velocity can I excpect
with the 24 inch barrel . Did I mention this is a sweet gun

I would start at 90 grains and work up depending on the ranges you are shooting at. Not sure on the velocity but you can chronograph it if you have one.

I dont have a chrono. I gotta think 90-100 grains is gonna get 1600fps or so. Im gonna try some .44xtps 200 grains too, as soon as I put in an order from midway

Nice Rifle ;)

Be sure to compress the load/powder VERY Firmly each time with JSG/Any APP brand of powder.  It will give you better accuracy results.  In fact you can give it all you got, compress it in a slow even push, till full compression(no more movement is felt).  Do Not bounce the Ram Rod ;)  Don't worry about the shockwaves or XTP's, they can take the loading pressure with out distorting the bullet ;D 

You can deffinatly start at 100g powder and move up or down from there.  I've used 150 loose JSG 3Fg in my 45cal Disc Elite, but don't like the recoil :P  I've settled for 120g powder max, and get excellent groups at 100 yards. 
With just a 24inch barrel on your omega, I would say 120g JSG would be your max burn limit anyway.

SB The X7 has a 24 inch contoured barrel & fluted reciever. just shorter & lighter. Same action.

Lane . Im giving up on the JSG. Ive shot 25- 30 rounds with it 110 grains Recoil is different every time.  The other day I shot 6 rounds at 100 yards Every other shot felt like I was shooting a 300 winmag from a 5 lb rifle. I shot 2   1 1/2 groups about 7 inches apart.Im going back to hodgens pyrodex select RS.   Im liking the gun though

JSG/APP seems to be the worse sub out there.

I to prefer Pyrodex Select-RS and P. Its consistent with every shot.

I believe the difference between the earlier Omegas and the Z5 was that the older ones had the action welded on and the Z5 has them screwed together.  I've never had a Z5 apart though so I am not 100% sure.

The X7 is a much lighter gun and is factory equipped with peep sights.  I found the recoil pad on my X7 to be softer then my older Omega as well.
