Depends on how good of a friend he is and how generous you wanna be. I'd say if it's in half way decent shape getting your money back would be fair to him. If he's a good enough friend to sell it for a dollar then just give it to him as a gift.

Won't allow you to own it or to use it on public land? Mine will not let us use them on public lands except for any trail made specifically for them and I'm only aware of one such anywhere within 100 or more miles of me. But I can use it on my own land or any other private land if the land owner doesn't object.

NADA should give you an actual value if you need it.

Since you're not allowed to own one, what did you do, get caught using a quad as a deadly weapon in a robbery? :D :D :D
I know a bunch of guys in Mi. that own and use quads.

well, its like this......in 1996 I got an impaired driving ticket, which was my second one, the first in 1989. So in michigan the state takes your drivers license away. Some people...mostly lawyers....will say that you can get it back. HA!....so after 11 years and about $12,000.00, spent on lawyers and lost work time in courts......I still don't have one. Now, I was stopped for a headlight out,and had a few beers at my brothers house with him.
It's not like there was any accidents or anything. That's just the way our state is.

Anyway,......the state says I can't register a vehicle of any type because I don't have a drivers license. That its actually illegal for me to buy or sell any vehicle.
it really sucks to live in michigan with these goofy so called laws.
In some of our bigger cities here you have to register a bicycle ,........guess what......I can't do that either.
 It,s crazy.
Any good lawyers out there? Could use the help...
 Sad but true.
I have a picture I'll post.....how to spot a michigan DUI resident.

The sad truth is many will give up and drive anyway.  They register vehicles in someone else's name or steal a license tag.  My tag was stolen once, the guys were caught but not until they rode around for 3 months with no insurance.  The no atv thing is a bit ridiculous.  In my state, the DUIs are allowed to drive mopeds without a license or insurance.  It has to have less than 3hp and can not go over 35mph.  You see many people on them that frequent the bars around here.  I never heard of a state where you had to register an atv even.  Man I love South Carolina.
