Huntman Barrel options
« on: November 15, 2007, 04:35:57 PM »
Hello-- I am new here and find this site too be very interesting...... I purchased a .50 cal huntsman a couple of years ago on a whim to try a last minute black powder hunt....I did not realize the barrel/accessory options that NEF/H&R offers... I am a little confused---I thought that I can only order shotgun and rimfire barrels with this action... I see on a post here that someone has a Huntsman/.223 combo..... I was wondering if I can order center fire barrles for my Huntsman????

Only shotgun barrels, rimfire barrels won't work on it due to the firing pin location. Huntsman combos were offered with SB2 rifle frames, the Huntsman itself uses an SB1 shotgun frame, unsuitable for centefire rifle/pistol barrels.

The poor little sb-1 gets alot of flack here on the center fire forum.

If you had huntsman, 20g Ultra slug, 12g smooth bore and could find a versa pack 22lr for barrels
you could hunt anything in the country.

While looking on the NEF web site I see they use some SB-1 frames with center fire rounds right from the factory.  I would think if they do it then it must be OK.  Larry

Well...................the 45 colt/410 is a SB-1 frame and the 45 colt, as far as I can remember, is a centerfire.  Therefore it would stand to reason that a 45 colt barrel must be safe on a SB-1 frame since they deliver them from the factory that way.

Could be, but it is a center fire cartridge on a SB-1 frame from the factory, so it must be OK to do under some conditions.  Will they fit the 45 colt/410 barrel to a SB-1 frame if I send one in?  Larry

I expect they would, give em a call Monday, while you're at it, ask if they'll fit the 45 Colt carbine barrel to it. ;)
