T/C Shock Wave Super Glide Sabots. Anyone using them?

So I tried out T/C's Shock Wave Super Glide Sabots the other day and I have to say that I wasn't too impressed.  They loaded great, I'll give them that, but accuracy was terrible, I was all over the paper at fifty yards and not even on the paper at a hundred.  I found unexpanded sabots about twenty five yards down range and interestingly, recoil was much less pronounced as compared to my preferred round, T/C Shock Waves in the "traditional" black four petal sabots.  Unfortunately I have no way to measure velocity, but given the feel of the recoil I pretty sure that these sabots are coming out of the barrel easier than other loads I've tried.  In my experience (with this gun at least, a .50 cal. MDM Buckwacka) the harder the sabot is to load, the better the accuracy I've gotten.

What's my point?  I don't really have one other than they sure didn't work in my gun. 

Anyone else tried these?  What has been your experience?

I had the same results with them in my Encore Pro-hunter. I could not get them to group at all, now I use the 250 gr. Bonded Shock waves with the black sabots and my groups shrink to 1 1/2 to as low as 1 inch at 100 yards. Now my buddy shoots the Super glides in his Encore and they shot well for him. I guess your gun either likes them or not.

i have hunted with Shockwave/SST bullets for several years.  They loaded very hard, especially in the Encore, but they shot like a dream.   Bought some of the Super Glide sabots with the 250 grain Shockwave bullet.   Shot them from my Encore;  they were all over the target at 100 yards. 

Finally gave up on the Super Glides and ordered the Hornady Low Drag sabots with the SST bullet.  This is a full size three petal sabot that is very slick compared to the old sabots.   It loads easily and is very accurate when shot from my Encore.  Fired three, three shot groups.  The largest group was well under two inches  and the smallest just over one inch at 100 yards.

If you guys want easier loading with the regular black sabots but dont want to give up accuracy use some Butchs Non-embedding bore cleaner on your bore. It will polish the bore but not harm your accuracy. I have done this with 3 Omegas and not had any loss of accuracy. Saturate a patch with the stuff and make 5 passes down the bore, clean it out real good, load and shoot. If its still too stiff to load for you try 5 more passes down the bore, clean, load and shoot. I found that 15-20 passes down the bore was enough to smooth the bore up real nice and make loading a little easier without losing accuracy, and the barrel cleans up alot easier also, especially if your wiping between shots to boot. My current Omega is a Z5 and i have been getting 3/4" groups with it. The other 2 I had shot 1" groups at 100 yards and like I said I used this method on all 3 of them. My load combo is a 250 grain Shockwave (black sabot) and 3 Triple Seven pellets.

I really don't have a problem with loading the black sabots in my Encore, I just wanted to try the super glide.

Sounds like there may be a gas seal issue?
I was going to try the new red sabot SST's after the season, but if they are smoother loading due to a smaller sabot which will allow gas to escape, then I'm not going to frustrate myself off the bench with less accuracy

I used the T/C 250 gr. Shock Wave Super Glides last week for the initial range trip with my NEF Stainless Sidekick.
They loaded easily and shot very accurately.

Like mentioned above,my Pro Hunter didn't shoot them that well. My friends Pro Hunter loves them. Every gun it diffrent. They do load easy though. Ron

The 250 grain SST bullet in a three petal red sabot is from Hornady.   It is called the Low Drag sabot.  In my Encore it shoots 1-2" inch groups at 100 yards.   From my gun, this is not quite as accurate as the SST bullets in the old red four petal sabots:    It is good enough for me.  There is no gas leakage problem when fired from my gun.

I use the 300 grain super glide in my encore  and they are dead on at 100 yards,also shot a buck at about 80 yards Sat.and he ran maybe 20 yards ,they work in encore with 100 grain loose powder of t777.

Thanks for clearing that up Alsagr. I was wondering what they did to the new red sabots to help them load, and glad to hear they set tight.

Found my pet load-300 grain grain shockwaves with superglide sabots-130 grain pellets (2 fiftys + 1 30) encore with a peep sight rear.
1.75 inches at 100 yards my worst group so far. Ill attach pics if you dont believe.
