I have a 209x45 g2 contender 1 in 28, do you think it would handle patched round balls, with a VERY light charge of goex black, 20 to 30 grains? I want to try it out on squirrels and rabbits!

Ought to do just fine. You may need to experiment with patch thickness and/or material to get "head of squirrel" accuracy. Round balls are fun.
