green mountain replacement barrels?

can anybody tell me if these are worth the price.i have arthritis in my shooting shoulder and would like to shoot a lighter bullet. this is going to fit on a t/c renegade.

Need more info than that highwayman.  What are you shooting now?  Do you want to go from a .54 to a .50, 50 to 45???  What load and bullet are you shooting?  Why need a new barrel to reduce recoil?  For example, if you're shooting a .50 caliber with 100 grains T-7 and 250 grain bullets in sabots, you'll get a lot less recoil with patched round balls under 90 grains Pyrodex and still have a deer killing machine at appropriate ranges.

GM barrels have a good reputation.  If you can get a drop-in to fit your gun in the caliber you want you probably can't go wrong.

it is a 50cal renegade with 90ff and a 385 great plains bullet. i want to stay with a 50cal,but i am not a fan of a round ball.

I shoot the 385 GP out of my .50 TC New Englander.  It can be a brute with heavy charges.  I also shoot the 250 grain Lee R.E.A.L. bullet over a fiber wad and 90 grains FFG Pyrodex.  A lot less recoil, accurate, and a 100 yard deer killer. 

You might also want to look into your options with recoil pads.  My Lyman Mustang has a Pachmayr D750 Decelerator pad.  It's only 1", but really softens recoil.

Seeing how u shoot a tc renegade, just have a gun smith install a limbsaver recoil pad. I shoot 80 grains  pyrodex rs and  a 410 grain great plains conical and the recoil is a soft kiss to the shoulder.

I have a 50 cal G Hawk and you can try 70 grs. of Pyro P with a 300gr Buckslayer conical by CVA. Recoil is reduced and accuracy is good. I have a box of Hornady Pa. conicals at 240gr i haven't tried yet. Plus the REAL conicals and lighter weight maxiballs. Dropping your powder charge does wonders. I just traded a Renegade and it shot sabots really well and they don't have the recoil a conical has. This Grey Hawk shoots sabots real well also. Fer 100 yds. and closer i don't use over 70 grs. of powder. If i am watching a field where i know shots will get over 100 yds. then i up powder abit more so it won't drop so fast.

I second the suggestion for the Limbsaver recoil pad. I am somewhat recoil sensitive and have a shattered collar bone although on the opposite side but heavy recoil actually hurts the opposite shoulder too. I have tried all the recoil pads and the Limbsaver is easily twice as good as the next best one. Pachmeyer pads are OK but nothing like the Limbsaver. I would try that and a lighter bullet first before spending a lot of money for a barrel that may not be any better than the one you have.

GM barrels are really good barrels....

A couple of facts you might need to know or you already know:
1. your renegade has a 1" barrel on it and it is 27" long - probably 1/48 twist
2. GM barrels can come either 15/16ths or 1" depending on what you order - it will be 28" long
3. The GM barrel can come with a variety of twist rates... 1/70-round ball, 1/48- happy medium, and 1/28 fast twist for sabots and conicals
4. a 15/16ths will fit and work in you Renegade stock - might have to make a few minor alterations - the under rib will be a bit to long
5. a 1" will also fit but again the under rib will need to be shortened just a bit.

I have two of the GM-LRH barrels (fast twist) and they both shoot extremely well - both sabots and conicals....  If you can legally shoot sabots in your state you can reduce the felt recoil some and yet still have the energy necessary to harvest...

Simms does make a Limbsaver recoil pad that will slip right over the stock on existing Renegade stock, I have two of then and they work very well - I use then to extend the stock as you know the length of pull on a Renegade is rather short - well for me it is.
