What minie to use in a Zoli Zouave?
« on: November 17, 2007, 03:41:39 PM »
Hi,
I won a 1863 Zouave made by Zoli on an auction on Thursday and now the waiting for it to arrive. I've been wanting one on and off for 3-4  years and decided to go ahead and do it. ;D

If any of you have one of these what do you shoot in it with good results? I want to stick to something close to the original style of bullet and powder charge.

Thanks,
JS

I had one of these rifles several decades ago. I was getting pretty good results shooting patched round ball. I think it was the .570 ball and 70 grains of powder. I killed one deer, and one hog with it, and my buddy killed two deer with it.
So if you decide to go non-traditional you might give that a try.
I never shot minie balls with that rifle.
Aim small don't miss.

Yesterday It dawned on me that I could at least ask the seller about this. He said that it shot well with a .577" 460 gr. minie and 70 gr of 2f.
That's what I'll try first.
Thanks for your reply,
JS
