And Chuck Hawks' article only expanded on the theory, he didn't build one either.
That said, I'd say you're solidly bracketed between whatever a .338-06 and a .338 Federal can do, depending on what pressure level the thing is loaded.
Personally, as interesting as it sounds, I'd have to agree with Buford: you're so close to a 8x57 there's little point in going that route.
Other than the usual justifications for going wildcat, if the scads of 700 classics in 8x57 for sale don't get you excited.
