cz 527 in 222. Favorite loads??
« on: October 12, 2008, 03:12:41 PM »
I have a 222 and am wondering if anybody else does and what is there best recipe. Wondering to load 50 or 55 gr bullets and what powder has proven itself.
Mine has the lux stock and I had a problem with the scope height and cheek being off the stock so I went back to open sights.

It's not for me to prescribe, but you will certainly need a scope to utilise the accuracy potential of a 222.

You can still get a better cheekweld by trying a few alternatives.

There's a pack that straps onto the stock with some padding on the top edge but "strap ons" are not my thing  ::). As an alternative you can try Karsten Hansen's adjustable cheekpiece if you are preapred to drill your stock. The product is top notch, but you will need to ask Karsten whether it isn't too wide for a 527. Maybe he can make a narrower one.

Depends on what you want it for, but an open sigted 222 is a little teeny bit objectionable to me  ;D

Enjoy it. I just picked up the same one secondhand. But need to wait for a licence now.

Hi-- I have a 527 lux in .222-- Shoots very good using 25.5 grains of BLC (2) with a 50 grain Remington HP bulk. I load them out till they just fit in the mag with little room in the front of the bullet. Funny that it does so well with such a cheap bullet but it does. Hope your having fun with yours. My friends are shooting Remington varmint rifles in .223 and I always do better than they do. And my wood is lots prettier than the laminated crap they have and the Rem trigger is nothing beside the sst of the CZ

Just put a 527 on layaway in .222-behind ONLY to the .30/06 as my favorite caliber!
