Accessory Barrel years?

Hey guys I've got a quick question for ya. I know that on the NEF web site some of the barrels have a little star next to them. I remember reading on here somewhere that it meant that your gun had to be made after a certain year to get one. I know I saw it on here at one time but couldn't find it again even with a search. Does anyone happen to know the year offhand or could someone post a link to the thread please. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That info is in the FAQs and Help sticky, along with a ton of other info that you have no idea you didn't know!! ;D

meatball, you can go to the above link, faq's and help, it will give a list of the year your rifle was made and the pre-fix letter before the serial number on the side of the sb-2 frame, i think its got to be a N before your serial number,making the handi-rifle made after 1999, to get fitted with a new barrel marked with the * you were asking about,, if its a N or higher you should be ok

Thank you much sir. Guess I'll have to tell the wife that I have to buy a whole new rifle because mines too old for most of the other barrels. Anyone else wanna volunteer to tell here for me?

Yep, there is an answer for every question about Handi's on the FAQ's link at the top of the page!

I know before I ever posted I read about everything I could read, and even went through most of the pages of this forum before I ever posted!

I realize people don't usually want to, or have the time to read over the information and would rather just post a question and get an instant response, but all that time and effort was put into those FAQ's to help others so that they didn't have to read through pages and pages of this forum, and find repeated post on the same topic, which saves everyone a lot of time on those "common questions."

So you may wonder what is a "common question" on this forum?

Just check it out the FAQ's before you post your question, because it is probably covered already in detail!

I have an older model, one from 1997.  My question is what is the difference between it and the newer ones.  What makes it weaker.  Did they change something.
