Thank goodness for Midsouth.
« on: November 29, 2007, 04:10:03 AM »
After waiting since early October for my 7mm-08 case length gage from my gun shop,
I got on line and ordered one from Midsouth Shooters Supply.
Got it yesterday.:) :)

BTW I did cancel my BO with the gun shop and they were understanding.

Don't know if it's a kinda same situation or not but I was having trouble getting a part for my outboard motor thru a local outfit.  Come to find out, they would wait to order from a jobber until they had enough "stuff" to make paying the freight worthwhile.  I called direct and got it a couple of days later.
Of course, the local guy was blaming the jobber, etc, etc, etc.

I did see that another site showed low stock so I think the BO story is real.

The point is that Midsouth had it in stock so that didn't matter.

Just an observation...but wouldn't it have been easier to order a vernier caliper and not only had a tool that would do what you wanted but many other tasks as well. Everyone sells cheap digital calipers.

I think partsman is refering to the Lee guage. So if he dosent have a case trimmer(other than the lee one) the calipers wont help with his trimming. ;)

If you know the max length spec. of your cases....ie   2.045" and you set the venier to that dimension, lock it down. Any case that fits between the jaws is ok, any that don't need trimmed. At this point you don't have to have a trimmer but you will know which cases are out of spec. To me that makes more sense that a case length guage....which in 35 years of handloading I have never owned.

Speaking of Midsouth, got this CHRISTmas Special in my e-mail today.

With a 60 mile round trip for me to the nearest town with reloading equipment and diesel fuel @  over $3.50 per gallon, it sure looks good to me!

I have calipers, dial and analog, all they told me is that I need to trim my cases.
