Price of new in box Black Diamond
« on: January 07, 2008, 10:05:43 AM »
It's time once again for college tuition money for one of my daughters.
What is a fair price to ask for a NIB 50 cal. Thompson Center black diamond, stainless barrel, black synthetic stock?

Thanks,
Terry

Depends anywhere from $150 to $250. I have seen them all over the boards.

You're likely to be lucky to find a buyer at $150-$175. They just are not "in" at this time and thus being unpopular just don't sell. I'm sure some folks think they are the absolute ultimate muzzle loader but the vast majority of folks looking for an inline these days are not thinking that way. TC made several guns on that same basic platform and called them by various names as it seemed each year they renamed it and pretended it was new when it really wasn't.

So happens I'm one of those who really think it's close to the ultimate but then I'm not really into inlines at all. I had one and wasn't able to sell it even at $125 so I finally gave up and traded it to my local dealer. I think he gave me $75 in trade and marked it $100 on the shelf.

You are probably right about $200 being too much. I bought one at a local sporting goods store in December. It was used with a blued barrel but was in excellent shape. I paid $70 for that. I have only had it out a couple times but it seems to shoot great. I didn't think cleanup was too bad. I'd be tempted to keep it if I was you if you can't get a decent price. I was just thinking with the SS barrel and being brand new it might bring more.
