Lead-free primers?
« on: December 05, 2007, 04:43:36 AM »
I know I've seen factory ammo that boast lead-free primers for use in indoor ranges.

Does anyone know where reloaders can get these primers?

I don't shoot indoors, but I noticed when I reload there is a lot of dust generated when depriming cases.  I tested the surfaces of my reloading bench and it had some lead.

That dust is my primary concern.  My children won't be exposed if they don't go to the shooting range w/ me.  But when I reload, and there's dust on the surfaces and floor around the reloading area...then someone walks through it...then that gets transferred to the carpet...

I reload pistol cartridges so my volume is on the order of thousands of rounds/year.  That's a fair amount of primer dust.
