Jeff,

There is a current thread on this very subject on page two of this heading....

I haven't seen a Rem RB in 'bout 2 yrs & I wasn't impressed @ all w/ what I saw.  Several yrs ago, when I heard that Rem was going to offer a RB, I lusted after one until I saw one @ the SHOT Show. I was disappointed then & every one that I've since has left me disappointed: cheap looking wood & mediocre wood to metal fit.

I thought that if Rem was going to put their name on it, they would do it right, but things don't often turn out the way you would like. Actually I was rather surprised, as I thought that Rem would bar no holds to re-offer the rifle that was famous 'round the world for so many years.

I wonder who is fabricating the actions, etc., for them? At the last SHOT Show I attended (2002), the Rem rep said he didn't know who was doing the work. For some reason that seems to be a closely guarded secret....

I think if you are willing to spend that amt. of money for a RB  rifle, I would seriously consider a Rem pattern RB  from Lone Star Rifle. I have one of his earlier rifles & it is a beauty. Dave still puts out a very good product. Never heard anyone complain 'bout a Lone Star. Puts Rem to shame. You can get any option you want, provided you are willing to pay the frieght.  I often toy w/ the idea of send mine back for installation of a side hammer. Log on @ http://www.lonestarrifle.com/

Marsh

this ain't sarcasm, but a very real question.  Should it take three tries to get a reasonable rifle from them at these prices?  They should be the experts, and I for one expect the basics to be well covered and some of the extras to be well done by a "Custom Shop".

Marsh: the Shrink makes a good point.

Did Rem "pay the freight" or reimburse you for freight charges when you twice sent the RB back to them?

I just got through reading Mike Venturinos article about the Remington roller in this months Shooting Times. He also has one in there on the Navy Arms repro too, which really looks good with double set triggers and sights, for $1500. Both look pretty durn good to me. Now, if I can only scrape up about $1500.  :) Accuracy looked to be pretty good on factory ammo. You can only imagine how they both would shoot on hand loads.

Perhaps you meant Shooting Times and NOT Guns and Ammo?

You are so correct sir and I made the edit to my post. It was Shooting Times. Thanks for catching that. I get way too many magazines  :? I also get confused easily too.
