Help on reloading the 9x18 for a Makorav
« on: December 04, 2007, 03:48:49 AM »
I am planning to start reloading soon for .219 Donaldson-Wasp, .243, 38/357 mag. Last week I bought a 9x18 Makorav pistol at a pawn shop for $115 in 90% plus condition. My question is that what I have read so far is the 9mm Makorav bullet is several thousands larger than a standard 9mm bullet. To reload and shoot well do I need to buy 9mm Makorav specific bullets or will standard 9mm in the proper weight range work?

The Makorav is larger than a 9mm or 380 with a diameter of 0.364", vs. 0.355".  Barrels are available to change it to 380 if you desire or you can cast your own or buy Mak bullets.

You will need to buy proper 9mm Makarov bullets, as stated they are .363-.364" vs. standard 9mm at .355" There are several bullets available from the Major makers (hornady, sierra, speer) in HP and FMJ + several cast companies make bullets for it. Power Pistol works very well as does AA#2 and AA#5
