got tha new one last week and been wonder'n what tha heck ta do wifit.
told tha boy (j2) to figure it.... he said "all we need tado after we do tha rechamber is a lil extracter work ana plan on bullets"

we gots lotsa bullets, an lotsa time.....cus fish'n stinks right now--- thanks BP
she done gud wif my 39 load, but not as gud as my original commie 39 thats my fav handi !!!
i kinda like these special "ain't none" projects  ... maybe there isa few out there ?

With the "built like a tank" Mosin Nagant rifles having been so inexpensive in the past, I don't think I ever thought of re-chambering another rifle to accommodate the 7.62x54. The ammo is still plentiful enough if you want to try some cheap commie surplus. Just have to watch that corrosive stuff.

I've often been tempted to get a Mosin Negant.  Dunham Sprots had them refurbished for under a hundred bucks.  They were nice looking...I liked the shorter carbine, (44?) but two things got in my way.  The first was recoil and second was where to put it.  Patty's side of the bed is chock full now, the poor gal can't settle down.  I probably have to build an addition

Very seriously though, the 7.62x54R would be great in a Handi.......maybe even better than the '06, being rimmed.

As hard as it is to find those I personally would rechamber a 30-30 and reload the 7.62x54 with .308 bullets. You will probably need an extra expander ball for your dies but you would be saving a x39 barrel some one would love to have

The 7.62X54 Lee set comes with the .308 expander ball, you have to order the .312 expander seperate if you want one.  Your problem will be finding a reamer that has a .308 pilot on it to fit in the barrel.  If you find a reamer with a floating pilot you can put on the one for the 30-30 and then do the job.  Larry

The Mosin Nagant was adopted  by Tsarist Russia in 1891 - way before the commies took over in 1917.  US companies (Remington and Westinghouse) built thousands for them during WWI.  It's an excellent cartridge.

 j2 has both style reamers, brass and bullets are a stock item here. just gotta find tha right bullet. will never shoot milsurp ammo in her....among all us here'n tha swamp wegot 3 other stock 39 handi's. its kinda a way of life... since we don't have no handi 30/30... ain't neva seen a need, cus we got 6 in other brand lever guns.
and why need a expander..... bore is .30889.. a .308 jacketed bullet will do just fine.
all ours shoot them mighty gud. we don't do cast fer accuracy and speed.
i have some lapua .308 155 & 172gr sp stubs... that look tempting my son brought back from tha east that cord'n to his experiance will do tha job. and thatsa all i need....
