New to this site, and to the 45-70.
I think I will be casting a 459-405-hb boolet (ww) for this rifle and using 2400 as a propellant. Any suggestions on cast bullets and loads will be appreciated. The bore measures .4555 & .4505 .

I will also be looking for a .308 barrel, a good cast bullet and loads using 2400 in this gun.

My most memorable hunting in my ute has been with a single shot and I hope to one day do it again.

   Nice site!

Welcome to GBO .

I shoot tons of cast 405s sized to .459 using IMR4895 and Unique , never tried 2400 . the IMR @ 52 grains will give be about 1700 fps and 1 1/2" @ 100 , the Unique load is 12 to 15 grains ( my sissy plunking load ) . ;D

Welcome Unter!!  I've used 2400 and the 350gr Hornady RN with exceptional accuracy from a 22" Handi, but most of my cast bullet shooting has been in the 45-120 BC with other powders, so I can't really help ya there, but there are lots that do like Stimpy, so stay tuned for more replies.  ;)
