Ruger Rifles are great.  What caliber are you thinking of getting?  The only time I have ever had a problem with the M77, Ruger took care of it quickly and at no charge.
The other thing is buy a flat black scope for it.  The stainless scopes or should I say silver scopes never really match.

Sorry, I can only encourage your purchase. I bought a Ruger M77 Sporter in .338 Win Mag three years ago. It has one of the best triggers I've had on an out of the box factory rifle. It is also very accurate, more accurate than I am with a cartridge of such recoil. I also like the dimensions of the stock and the way this makes the rifle handle. The smooth non-checkered wood also suits me well, and odd as it seems, in the cold woods this stock seems to hold warmth better than any other I own. New England Custom Gun makes a peep sight that works well and installs on the receiver's integral scope ring attachment device. The little NECG peep is easy to carry on remote trips as a back up in case the scope gets damaged. I can remove the scope and reinstall it, and the point of impact stays within the initial zero at 200 yards.

No.

But then I'm an unabashed Ruger fan.  The bolt guns in my safe number 5 Rugers and 1 Remington.

Thanks a lot guys.

I held one Saturday in a shop. It's gonna be real hard not to order one.
Probably wait until after the 1st of the year.

Prices usually go up after the first of the year---historically.
