Remington Receives First USSA - Cabela Award
« on: January 11, 2007, 10:25:49 AM »

(Orlando) – The Remington Arms Company was the inaugural recipient of the Cabela Lifetime Business Achievement Award. On Jan. 10, the U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance, National Shooting Sports Foundation and Cabela's, Inc. hosted a reception at the Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show in Orlando to present the award.

The U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance created the award in 2006 to honor the Cabela family's dedication to protecting outdoor sports, including hunting, fishing, and trapping. It is presented to companies that demonstrate the same passion and commitment to protecting America’s outdoor heritage as have the Cabelas.

"This is our way of honoring the Cabela family and other leaders in the outdoor business community for their efforts to defend our rights," said Bud Pidgeon, U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance president.  "Remington, the company receiving this award, has stood at the forefront of our battles and it is our extreme pleasure to recognize and thank them for their hard work and leadership."

Remington Arms designs, produces and sells sporting goods products for the hunting and shooting sports markets, as well as military, government and law enforcement markets. Remington is the only U.S. manufacturer of both firearms and ammunition products, and one of the largest domestic producers of shotguns and rifles. The company distributes its products throughout the U.S. and in over 55 foreign countries.

The Cabela Lifetime Business Achievement Award was accepted by Remington President and CEO, Thomas Millner.

"I am very proud of our record in the fight to protect hunting and shooting sports," said Millner.  "We are very honored as well as humbled to be recognized by the USSA and the Cabela family for our efforts."

The award was presented by Mike Callahan, Cabela’s Senior Vice President of Retail and Marketing.

"Remington has for decades recognized the importance of staying vigilant against those who want to destroy our shooting and hunting heritage," said Callahan.  "It is truly a pleasure to present the first award to such a deserving company."

Cabela’s, known as the World's Foremost Outfitter, has grown and prospered from simple beginnings to become the world’s largest direct marketer, and a leading specialty retailer, of hunting, fishing, camping and related outdoor merchandise.

The NSSF is the professional trade association for the firearms industry. Formed in 1961, it manages a variety of public outreach programs with a special emphasis on promoting gun safety and participation in shooting sports.

The U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance is a national association of sportsmen and sportsmen’s organization that protects the rights of hunters, anglers and trappers in the courts, legislatures, at the ballot, in Congress and through public education programs.  For more information about the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance and its work, call (614) 888-4868 or visit its website, www.ussportsmen.org.

Guess I'm not seeing where the prestige from some made up "award" is coming from.

These 2 companies have their noses stuck so far up each others rear end that they need the occasional slap on the back just to get 'em unstuck.

Hmmm I wonder if it will improve customer relations and service at Remington? I very much doubt it.
