New Handi in the house

Saw a Handi on the shelf in a local sports shop. Asked what cal.,  was told a 30-30. Ok, nice.  Now it on my mind but I an strong so no deal.  Went back several weeks later and it is still there only it has been marked down to $189.  Conditions conspire against me  and I walked out with it.  It is new as opposed to 2nd hand but it is a 2001 model (NRxx serial number) and has the synthetic stock with I believe an ejector instead of extractor.  I won't be able to shoot it for a while but in the mean time, I have cleaned and polished the barrel with Fitz, removed the barrel and cleaned the rest of the gun.  Now my problem,  I have the time now, so do I go ahead and try to float the barrel (use the spacer method in the sticky) or do I wait and shoot it as is and see if that is necessary.

Shoot first, make changes later if you need to, that's always the best course!!

Congratulations.       

My .30-30 was fine out of the box and very accurate.  Another vote to leave it alone until you fire it.

What a fine caliber for that rifle.  Ammo cost is still of the least expensive.  Its a proven deer caliber and offers very mild recoil.    ;)

My 30-30 Handi, as all others I have heard of, is a great shooter. Tim is correct, shoot it as it is and only make changes if required, have fun and keep us posted....<><....:)
