What weight to set trigger to?
«

Wanted everyones opinion on what weight to have my trigger set for when I do my trigger job. I currently have a Encore muzzleloader set at 2 1/2 pounds and it is just fine for the heavy gun. However this is on a ProHunter pistol. I will mainly hunt and test loads with it and I do hunt in a colder climate. I was thinking 2# but have no expereince with the pistol version. Any input is appreciated.

Even for handguns, I like the trigger in the 2 to 2.5 lb. range.

That sounds like a decent weight to me. Two out of my 3 Encores are set a bit lighter than that. I'm sure some will argue that you shouldn't go below 3 lbs. for safety reasons. It's all a matter of personal choice and what will allow you to shoot effectively.
Good luck.

I think I would have to go heavier, but my reasoning would be due to the cold weather factor and the use of gloves. That and 3 or 3.5# is gonna feel a whole world different than a trigger without a job.
