homemade buckshot from 410/45
« on: June 25, 2003, 08:04:44 AM »
I got a 36 cal round ball mold and made some to load as 410 buckshot.
I put 3 balls in a 2 1/2 410 shell with winchester wads.
went to the range today to try them out I removed the choke from my barrel and places a turkey target at 30 yard. the first shot put 2 balls in the kill zone of the target and the 3 rd was off the paper. the 2 nd shot was close to the first. i wanted to see how they did at 100 yards. All the balls hit in a straight line that ran about 6 feet long not real bad.
This load wont be good for small game but should workl for larger pest

My barrel is a 10 inch bull barrel with true iron sights in 45/410.

the loads are cheep to make and fun to shoot.
on a  side note i loaded a few #9 shot and shot at the same turkey target. about 75 % of the shot hit in the kill zone of the turkey. this barrel likes the 2 1/2 #9 shot.
