Simmons 4X32 Pro Hunter or Swift 4X32 handgun scopes
« on: December 16, 2007, 01:21:17 PM »
I am getting a Smith & Wesson 686 6" 357 Mag real soon. I am going to put a
scope on it. I am not going to get a variable. I am not made of money, so a
Leupold is 1,000,000 miles out of the question. I can get the Swift and the
Simmons for pretty much the same price. Around $100 including shipping. I
am looking at using a Weaver no drill and tap base with a set of Warne low
rings. I plan on using this setup for hunting, target shooting at 50 yards+, and
general blasting. In a perfect world, I would prefer to just use iron sights, but
my eyes aren't what they used to be. I really need the extra magnification for
50-100 yard shooting. What are your opinions on this setup?

I have a Simmons 4x32 and 2x32 and am happy with them. The 2x is on a .357 MAX Encore and hasn't lost it's zero with over 100 full power rounds thru the gun.
Have no experience with the Swift.

Thanks for the quick reply Alan. I just went ahead and ordered a silver Simmons 4X32, Weaver mount, and Warne rings.
I read several reviews of the Simmons 4X32 Pro Hunter on Midway's site and the vast majority of them were favorable.
