Sight Alternitives for Henry .22 Lever
« on: June 07, 2007, 03:22:05 PM »
Looking for a replacement sight for my Henry .22 lever action.
The rifle is already fitted with a scope rail. (I don't want a scope)
Any suggestions would be great!
Thanks.

How about a red dot?

I was trying to stay clear of any additional optics, I like the clean lines of the rifle. What I was hoping was to find a company that makes alternative sights.

If you're into peep sights at all, Williams makes a ton of stuff that should work well on a Henry; I know many people have used their stuff & had great luck with it :)

Kind Regards,

Thank you. Williams has been mentioned to me before, I just can't seem to find a web site for them.

All ya got to do is type it in search.  Here ya go:   www.williamsgunsight.com

I guess they make a peep sight that you can use in a scope groove set up. You may have to do something with the front sight though.

For what it is worth I have a Compact Leupold 4 X  (Mark 8)  on my 22 mag and I love it. The 22 mag Henry I have is so accurate it deserves some good glass to use that accuracy.
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.

I realize this is an old topic but for anyone else that might be looking for peep sights for the Henry , this was my solution.  I wanted a small compact peep , I had read that the Williams WGRS 54 would not work .  I'm a little hard-headed so I ordered one . The sight as it comes is too tight to go on the dovetail ...................... but 30 minutes with some needle files will get it to fit  . You will not have to remove so much as to weaken the sight in any way .  This is my hunting sight and I am very happy with it !!!!!  Because of the way it adjust , it would be considerable trouble for anyone who switches ammo on a regular basis , or anyone who needs to regularly needs to adjust for different yardages .

so if anyone needs a compact peep sight that you sight in and forget ................... this might be for you

On my Ennery I took and filed the front sight flush. Then filed a dove tail cut in it and installed a finer front sight. Also installed an old Redfield receiver peep sight off of a Winchester 94.Now if I miss,it's not because the front sight covers up a Sherman tank at 50 yards. No more excuses! Much better sight for my old eyes. Gramps
