Diary of a not so new shooter anymore.
« on: June 24, 2003, 10:38:10 AM »
Well its been awhile fellas, summer is here and I havent been postin much.
Hope everyone is well.

I havent shoot as much as I had hoped, but  I have shot a few matches.
Most recently was the 4 States Championship at the Badlands Bar 3.  I was really excited about the match.  10 stages 2 days  lots of good shooters ( I am not one of them).  Well it didnt go well.   Rifle problems again and just didnt seem to have it together. I kept making stupid mistakes, beginner mistakes.  I was so frustrated.
I am still procedural free. I am sure thats a miracle of some kind.
I am enjoying my Big Ed leather.  If anyone is looking to get some leather you will not be wrong buying it from him.

Well I really dont have much more to add,  I am still having fun. I hope to shoot this weekend and next.  Ill let ya know how it goes.

Howdy DB,
Glad you got to shoot some.  Been kinda quiet down here along the coast.  Sorry about the frustrations at the big match.  Know that can take some of the wind out of your sails.
Keep pluging away--it'll all come together at some point.

What is your rifle problem pard? Maybe we can help. If it is a Marlin I might be able to even.
It gets smoother and a whole lot more easier as you go. I am fortunate to live in an area that has shoots every week. I miss one now and then these days, but when I started, I was shooting every week and having a ball. I have changed a lot of things from the first year or so. New alias, new sass number, new sixguns, new leather, new outfits to wear, but same good times and good friends. I still am like a kid on a pony, all smiles when I am at a shoot.
I do notice the adrenaline charge is gone now, but that might be good for a guy my age. You will find it gets real comfortable around your friends and you start having just serious fun with no gun breakdowns, because you have gotten it all worked out and things get smooth. You might go to one of the shooting schools to get your technique ironed out and become faster and faster, until you are at the top of the podium at EOT and autograph seekers are fighting to get near you, and your agent and body guards fight to keep the crushing crowds from getting at you .  <RINGGGGGGG>
Uhhh, oh. Time to get up. Man I still have that reoccuring dream all the time.
Yawwwwwwn.  :)  :)
yer pard,
